2006 COHORT
Kylene Guse – Kylene is a graduate of Augustana College with B.A. degrees in Sociology and Spanish. Kylene is a reproductive rights activist and has worked and traveled with Planned Parenthood. Kylene is interested in public policy and public health.
Neal Hampton – Neal graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Native American Studies, and an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Oklahoma. His research interests include anthropological fieldwork with Two-Spirit people in Native American tribes.
Kathleen Hentz – Kathleen graduated from UC San Diego with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Music. Kathleen is interested in teaching at the university level as well as implementing public health policy.
David Holland – David holds a B.A. in both Biology and Chemistry from Augsberge College; an M.S. in Environmental & Occupational Health from the University of Minnesota; and an M.P.H. in Bio/Statistics & Epidemiology from UC Berkeley. David’s interests encompass disability, and the way it affects sexuality.
Stephanie Hubbard – Stephanie is a graduate of UC Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Feminist Studies. She is interested in HIV/AIDS education and public health, as well as Harm Reduction Theory. Stephanie is a public speaker with SCAP (Santa Cruz AIDS Project).
David Khalili – David holds a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Human Sexuality Studies from San Francisco State University, and is currently working on his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at University of Texas at Austin. He has studied Middle Eastern ethnic and sexual identities, and is interested in expanding his research in this area.
Eric Martinez – Eric holds a B.A. in Psychology at San Francisco State University. He has done work with the GLBT National Help Center and is interested in sexual health education.
Sunny Nordmarken – Sunny holds a BA in Anthropology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies from UC Davis. She is interested in theorized and embodied variations of gender, sex and sexuality and global inequalities. She is an activist who has organized numerous awareness raising events around gender justice, violence against women, reproductive rights, body politics, war, and LGBT issues. She hopes to be an educator inspiring others to question normative ways of thinking about gender and pursue research that builds on her experience as a genderqueer activist.
Kathleen Scoggin – Katheleen is a graduate of Wellesley College, with a B.A. in Psychology. She has worked as an activist and a counselor to help dispel and provide honest, accurate information to youth on sexuality. She is interested in how the general taboo around sexuality damages the happiness of individuals and fostering healthy sexual relationships.
Elizabeth Shafer – Elizabeth is a graduate of Davidson College with a B.S. in Biology. She has worked with Planned Parenthood and is interested in research questions regarding human sexuality and fertility.
Bethany Stevens – Bethany is a graduate of University of Florida, with a B.A. in Art History and a Juris Doctorate in Law. She is a disability activist and is committed to working in the sexuality education field.
Lisa Vallin – Lisa received her BA in Geography from San Francisco State University. She would like to complete her research while in the program on sex education and development. She is born and raised in Sweden and although her home country is more progressive than the US in certain areas of Human Sexuality she sees the need to improve on sexual health and pleasure.
