CHRISTOPHER WHITE
About the Instructor
Christopher White, PhD, is the Director of Education and Training at the National Sexuality Resource Center (NSRC) and a Visiting Professor in the Department of Sexuality Studies. At the NSRC, Dr. White is the Director of the annual Summer Institute, a program designed to enhance and supplement the education and experience of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professionals seeking careers in the field of sexuality. He has taught courses at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned is PhD in Health Promotion, and the University of Texas at San Antonio. Dr. White has a strong committment to facilitating learning and professional development for scholars and early professionals by helping them acquire the skills, knowledge, and experience for success. His research interests lie in understanding the ways in which individuals and communities gain access to information and services for lifelong learning regarding healthy sexuality, pleasure, and desire and using that information to create more accessible, user-friendly sources and services. In addition, Dr. White is an advocate for developing models for school and community-based programs that promote healthy sexuality by addressing social issues and inequities through sex education, including developing training programs for educators that help them learn how to teach about sexuailty, how to select or create materials and curricula appropriate for their community, and how to evaluate their programs. He is excited to join the Department this fall and looks forward to working with the current and incoming graduate students.

Research Interests Promoting sexual literacy through innovative and creative programs that include using popular fiction, media, and pop culture to enhance conversations and increase relevancy around sexuality issues.
