Michele Eliason Ph.D. has her doctorate in educational psychology and she completed her postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology. Dr Eliason’s research interests have included cognitive development and psychological adjustment in children with genetic disorders as well as developmental learning disabilities. She has clinical experiences in hospital nursing (head and neck cancer, pediatrics, orthopedics, child psychiatry) as well as psychological practice (mental health center, pediatric inpatient, learning and behavior disorders outpatient clinics, genetics clinics, cleft palate clinic). She teaches courses related to psychology, health education and human sexuality studies. Mickey currently has two research foci: one related to substance abuse and women, and the other related to health care issues for lesbian, gay, and bisexual clients. The later research culminated in a book published by the National League for Nursing Press: "Who Cares? Institutional barriers to health care for lesbian, gay, and bisexual people."
